Red Pen: AI for Marketers
A gamified challenge where marketers brief an AI, red-pen its campaign drafts against the clock, and disclose AI use the right way.
The challenge
Marketers were publishing AI-drafted copy with invented stats, health claims and made-up reviews. They knew the rules in theory, but proofreading at speed is a skill, and a quiz doesn't build it.
My approach
- Three stages that mirror the real workflow: brief the AI, red-pen what it writes, then disclose AI use.
- A timed red-pen game where learners tag each problem as brand, legal or fact, with points, streak bonuses and penalties for flagging good copy, so guessing doesn't pay.
- A fact sheet beside every draft, so the habit is checking against a source, not memory.
- An accessibility option to play without the timer, and a finished, corrected email at the end as the learner's own campaign asset.
Objectives and how each is assessed
Points make it a game, but the pass decision comes from a rubric with one row per objective.
| Learning objective | Assessment |
|---|---|
| Generate campaign drafts with AI from a creative brief. | Choose what goes into the prompt from 8 brief items, including 3 that must stay out (meets: 7 of 8) |
| Check AI content for brand, legal and factual issues. | Find 11 problems across an email and a social post (meets: 8 found, 2 or fewer false flags) |
| Disclose AI use according to policy. | 3 disclosure decisions (meets: 2 of 3); passing means meeting all three objectives |
